About Us

Author Coline Benjamin’s toddler and pandemic days sparked the idea for her book. Coline says,’ I was inspired to write the book by my two-year-old son at the start of the pandemic.

Like any mother know children are often curious and ask so many question. However, with a curious toddler around at the start of the pandemic, our story time was filled with a collage of books to nurture and help him piece together the world around him. Adding to the very small amount of black children’s book in the market we highlight  the importance of black children book literature.

You can't be what you can't see.

Writing a children book is extremely difficult because you need the ability to see the world through a child's eyes luckily I had my son around which helped me visualize the magic.

So what inspired Coline as an author?

Coline explains, ‘ I wanted to write stories that expose children to diverse, inclusive children's books.

Throughout the writing of the book, I wanted a story that is fun yet relatable to children’s imagination.

On the other hand, I wanted children of colour to see themselves in the books they read.’

With several ideas and projects in the pipeline, the Benjamin Kids is set to roll out lots more exciting books and educational toy for children in the near future.
